OBJECTIVE

Construct a freestanding amorphic shape, spacious enough to contain a small group of people.

HYPOTHESIS

A pneumatic object has the ability to perform well under prescribed conditions despite an increase in material and size.

MATERIALS

Air compressor, (2) Leaf Blowers, (3) Flat Irons, Metal straight edge, (5) 10’ X 25’ Rolls of 4 mm. Plastic, Scissors, Wax paper

EXPERIMENT

We designed a pneumatic structure based from two spheres.

CONCLUSION

After testing our pneumatic inflatable, we conclude that stitching is crucial for the pneumatic structure to remain upright. Research of patterns and stitching will support future installations. Our goal for the future includes designing a tighter structure free from any cavities or depressions.  In addition to the construction of our installation, we propose that changing texture, color, and size will have an effect on a person’s experience of the space. In conclusion, we can say that our amorphic structure held very well under pressure. It was enjoyable to those who partook in this social experiment. People really enjoyed crawling inside the inflatable and frolicking inside away from the outside world.
